Ingredients

Makes about 4 cups

  • 4 Cups Dried Diced Apples

  • 6 Cups Water

  • 1 Cup Granulated Sugar

  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Nutmeg

  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt

Directions

  1. Add the apples and water to a slow cooker and set to low. Cook the apples slowly for as much as 4 hours until the apples are mushy soft. Use an immersion blender to process the mixture to very smooth, a high-speed blender will also work but use extra water to rinse out all the puree from the hopper.

  2. Add the sugars, spices and salt and continue cooking the puree for 8-10 hours on the lowest setting. The puree will turn brown and become very thick. Remove to sanitized jars and seal accordingly to ensure safe storage.
