Our White Cube Cane Sugar comes from Mauritius, a small island nation in the Indian Ocean about 1,200 miles off the southeast coast of Africa. The Dutch, who colonized the island nation in the 17th century, introduced sugar cane from Java. Today, sugar cane is the principal agricultural crop, with 85% of the arable land being used for its cultivation. On average, 600,000 tonnes of sugar is produced on Mauritius annually, with most of it being exported to the EU.
