Salted Crunchy Corn is made from heirloom giant white corn that is lightly fried and seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. This giant corn from the highlands of the Andes mountains of Peru, in a place known as The Sacred Valley of the Incas. This unique Peruvian product is known for its pleasant crunch, pure white color, circular fan shape and its exceptional size. For thousands of years, giant corn has grown exclusively in Peru due to an ideal combination of altitude, sunlight and rich soil. For over 20 centuries, farmers have dried the corn according to an ancient custom that requires a combination of frost at night and bright sunshine for 45 days.
Crunchy Corn is similar to a snack referred to as "cancha" in Peru and Columbia, and are prepared by soaking whole corn kernels in water for three days, then deep-frying them in oil until they are hard and brittle.
