Ingredients
Prunes, sunflower oil, potassium sorbate. Prunes are a natural product and may contain the occasional pit.
With a deeply sweet taste and a sticky, chewy texture, Prunes are highly nutritious and considered one of the world's healthiest foods. High in potassium and fiber, they are outstanding for supporting bone health, as well as digestive health.
Nearly 100% of the U.S. supply and about half of the world's supply of prunes are produced in California. For our Pitted Prunes, we source a firm-fleshed plum with a higher natural sugar and acid content than most. They are allowed to tree-ripen and are then mechanically dried without sulfites, resulting in a sweet, firm, flavorful product.
Classic recipe
Port-Simmered Prunes with Mascarpone
Prunes are often thought of as a fiber-rich health food. However, one bite of this decadent dessert might have you thinking otherwise. When simmered with rich ruby port spiked with orange zest, cinnamon and vanilla bean, the prunes take on an unmistakable richness that pairs deliciously with orange-scented mascarpone cheese.
