Japanese Yellow Curry combines the traditional flavors of turmeric and hot chiles, usually mixed with vegetables or protein and served over rice. It is rich and sour, but can also range from sweet to spicy depending on preparation.
While curry is now one of the most popular dishes of Japan, it was not familiar to the cuisine until the British introduced the dish, through its rule of India, in the late 1800s. It was originally an expensive specialty dish, but has been adapted overtime and is now considered a national favorite.
