    Ingredients

    Dried jalapeno chiles.

The Jalapeño Chile is named after the town of Jalapa in Veracuz, Mexico. One of the regions most popular chiles, this mild to hot chile is the workhorse of the chile family, finding its way as an ingredient into almost any dish due to its pleasurable balance of heat and flavor. The peppers that are allowed to mature to a deep red color are smoked to make the popular chipotle peppers.

Part of the Capsicum annuum family, these peppers have been part of the human diet in the Americas since at least 7500 BC. While they are now staples in many cuisines, they were not introduced to Europe and Asia until the late 1400s when they were brought to Spain and quickly traded for their variety and as a cheaper alternative to pricey peppercorns.

Perfect for summer when sweet corn is at its peak, these fritters are heavy on the corn and light on the filler. Our Diced Jalapeño Chiles add the perfect pop of heat and chile flavor, and a creamy, tangy, spicy sauce made from sour cream, lime juice and cayenne is just the perfect accompaniment.
