Chuka Soba Noodles

Chuka Soba Noodles (Japanese for "thin Chinese noodles") are the Japanese adaptation of Chinese noodles. Off-white noodles made from wheat flour that are most commonly used in cold preparations or served hot in broth (such as ramen). They should not be confused with Japanese soba noodles, which are straight and darker in color and made from buckwheat.

    Suggested uses

  • Use in place of rice as a bed for stir-fried or steamed vegetables

  • Use in soups or serve with a light sauce

  • Serve chilled, topped with fresh vegetables, ham, strips of scrambled egg, and a light dressing for a version of the popular Japanese summer dish hiyashi soba

  • Basic prep

    Boil noodles in water until tender. Drain and rinse well with cold water before serving.
